Tragic times of Jesse and Johnny.

Johnny was alone and scared on the side of the highway.
It had been days since his last meal and he had gotten away.
He remember the dark days and the pain of the beatings.
The look on his Dads face and his rage and his drinking.

Jesse drove in tears running from the memories.
To many days and to many nights trapped on her knees.
Without a word she would do whatever Slick told her.
Cause if she didn't she knew Slick would only break her.

All the times she would dream.
All the times he would hide.
Dreams of a normal life.

When the pain would subside.
Dreams of a sunny day.
And not a place where she cried.
When he won't runaway.
Where they won't have to hide.

As the rain poured on Johnny held out his thumb.
Freedom was out there and he had to get him some.
One more car one more truck so many miles more to go.
Maybe Hollywood or LA somewhere warm where he could grow.

Bags packed in the back and dreams alive in her eyes.
Jesse cried as she drove in Slicks stolen full size.
Up ahead on the side she saw a shivering soul.
She pulled over and smiled to get him out of the cold.

All the times she would dream.
All the times he would hide.
Dreams of a normal life.
When the pain would subside.
Dreams of a sunny day.
And not a place where she cried.
When he won't runaway.
Where they won't have to hide.

As danger rode their way cause no runs from Slick.
She couldn't run from him. Where was her logic.
With pedal to the metal and .45 in hand.
She'd pay for what she did, She'd follow his command.

His Mustang was in sight, he bore down on the gas.
She tried to get away but he'd never let her pass.
Bumpers crashed sparks flew he ran her off the road.
Slick saw her hit the wall, he saw the car explode.

All the times she would dream.
All the times he would hide.
Dreams of a normal life.
When the pain would subside.
Dreams of a sunny day.
And not a place where she cried.
When he won't runaway.
Where they won't have to hide.

Slick tossed his gun he had to run and try and get away.
But people saw what he had done and now he had to pay.
Flashing lights chased after him he was backed against the wall.
20 to life double homicide this time Slick had to fall.

All the times she would dream.
All the times he would hide.
Dreams of a normal life.
When the pain would subside.
Dreams of a sunny day.
And not a place where she cried.
When he won't runaway.
Where they won't have to hide.
