I'm Sorry.

Laughing and crying. Joking and lying, These are memories of our past.
Your here then your gone. Love comes and goes. Nothing you say ever last.
Cold winter nights. Stalking the cold floor waiting for a call that never comes.

I'm sorry. So sorry that I'm not quite good enough.
I'm sorry. So sorry and I'm done at last, I've had enough.

Lost in a quiet room that's packed with rejection. Only one single voice in the night.
I pound on the grey walls. Why can't you see me? Why is it always a fight.
I'm sorry, Oh so sorry. I can't stand the pain and the lose.
I'm sorry. Oh so sorry . Nothing I say is good enough.

Pictures of sunsets. Down by the river. A kiss in the quiet moonlight.
Sweet words of longing. Promises are broken. Memories of passion at night.
I'm sorry. So sorry. Why can't I be good enough.
I'm sorry. Oh so sorry. No more pain, I've had enough.

Teardrops and heartache. I hide in the dark. Love comes and love walks away.
I've lost that sweet spark. Memories of screaming. Memories of you, please stay.
No more bright sunny days. I'm lost in the rain.. I run from your swift hand.
I run from the pain. I run from the madness. I hold on in vain.

I'm sorry. So sorry. Your my earth and my depression. I see nothing but rejection.
I'm so sorry. So so sorry. I can't be the one to love you. I can't hold you and protect you.
I'm so sorry Oh so sorry. Your my sun and all my freedom. Your my summer and my fall.
I'm sorry. So so sorry. Your the music to my life song. What is wrong and what is right.
Your my end and my beginning. From the start and when I'm finished. Your the cream that's in my coffee. Your what is sweet and what is salty.

There is no Fear.

There's me and you.
There's us and them.
There's time and space.
To face the fate.
There's up and down.
And in and out.
There's black and white.
And day and night.
There's pleasure and pain.
And now and then.
When beauty is clear.
There is no fear.
There's sanity and delusion.
When everything's real.
There's hide and seek.
But don't be weak.
There's a smile and a frown.
But I won't stay down.
There's heaven and hell.
And no farewell.
There's love and hate.
So don't be late.
There's a touch and a kiss.
And heavenly bliss.
There's right and wrong.
So we stay strong.
There's my words to you.
I'll always be true.

I'm at the end.

Lost and alone and I'm hurt and confused.
Dark and depress and I'm feeling abused.
Your words are so sweet but sometimes they burn.
You promise to change, but I'll never learn.
I can't keep on this way. I'm at my end.
Not for another day. I can't pretend.
I wait alone in the ER, all black and blue.
The pasta sauce is still in my hair, it can't be true.
All red eyes you screamed at, here it comes again.
A broken arm I must defend.
We can't go this way, will it ever end.
The pain is real, you not a friend.

I'd do it for you.

If I could sing a song to brighten your day.
If I could be in your dreams to keep fear away.
If I could paint the sky I'd take away the blue.
I'd color it brightly, I'd do it all for you.
I'd be your knight in white armor, your prince of the day.
I'd be your broad-shouldered hero and I'd never stray.
I'd be the one that makes all your dreams come true.
I'd be your star and your universe, I'd do it for you.
I'll be your hero in red, white and blue.
I'll be the one that takes you on through.
I'll be the hammer that strikes out the truth.
I'll do it all for you.

The Tortured Soul.

Quiet and alone he sits there in pain.
As the morning sky turns to dark clouds and rain.
His life is so broken only scars remain.
He can feel his dreams slipping they're all going insane.
No one here can see how he cries.
No one here wants to, or will even try.
His memories re tell of his tortured dirty soul.
Raped and abused he never feels whole.
The things that he lived through.
The blacks and the blue.
The pain and the horror.
Are not something new.
But somewhere in his soul there is a light spark.
A brightness that shines right out in the dark.
A hero that fights to keep you from pain.
Somebody to love, to unlock the chain.

Ticking. Bernie Taupin

"An extremely quiet child" they called you in your school report
"He's always taken interest in the subjects that he's taught"
So what was it that brought the squad car screaming up your drive
To notify your parents of the manner in which you died
At St. Patricks every Sunday, Father Fletcher heard your sins
"Oh, he's unconcerned with competition he never cares to win"
But blood stained a young hand that never held a gun
And his parents never thought of him as their troubled son
"Now you'll never get to Heaven" Mama said
Remember Mama said
Ticking, ticking
"Grow up straight and true blue
Run along to bed"
Hear it, hear it, ticking, ticking
They had you holed up in a downtown bar screaming for a priest
Some gook said "His brain's just snapped" then someone called the police
You'd knifed a Negro waiter who had tried to calm you down
Oh you'd pulled a gun and told them all to lay still on the ground
Promising to hurt no one, providing they were still
A young man tried to make a break, with tear-filled eyes you killed
That gun butt felt so smooth and warm cradled in your palm
Oh your childhood cried out in your head "they mean to do you harm"
"Don't ever ride on the devil's knee" Mama said
Remember mama said
Ticking, ticking
"Pay your penance well, my child
Fear where angels tread"
Hear it, hear it, ticking, ticking
Within an hour the news had reached the media machine
A male caucasian with a gun had gone berserk in Queens
The area had been sealed off, the kids sent home from school
Fourteen people lying dead in a bar they called the Kicking Mule
Oh they pleaded to your sanity for the sake of those inside
"Throw out your gun, walk out slow just keep your hands held high"
But they pumped you full of rifle shells as you stepped out the door
Oh you danced in death like a marionette on the vengeance of the law
"You've slept too long in silence" Mama said
Remember Mama said
Ticking, ticking
"Crazy boy, you'll only wind up with strange notions in your head"
Hear it, hear it, ticking, ticking.

For Shane and Tom.

A day in the life.
A minute of grace.
An moment to remember.
That sweet loving face

Six years to cherish.
My time in his arms.
Six years worth of memories.
Of all his sweet charms.

Hate took my love away.
It crushed all our dreams.
It shattered our future.
And left me with screams.

They left me with nothing.
Just tears and regret.
But I'll always have his heart.
And I will never forget.
